Most certainly. Most people think that a Dom is just out to make himself happy by abusing another person. That couldn’t be further from the truth. I wish more people understood that, them perhaps BDSM would be more accepted.

When my Dom and I play, at the end I may be shaking, bruised, and left with rope marks that will last for days, but I’m giggling with happiness because it is what I wanted. He is happy also, because my submission has filled a need in him. Of course, there is nothing quite like having your Dom look at you and tell you that you pleased him. I count myself lucky to have such a wonderful Dom.

Your absolutely right Elaine…it’s truly unbelievable what some people think is BDSM. BDSM at it’s core is not abuse. I say myself I am abused and this and that, but in reality – it’s not really abuse. It’s exactly what I want, as much as I want. Thats why it’s so hard being a dom because you have to go right to the edge, you have to be an amazing judge of character. It can take years of practice to get to that point.

guys like this simply *think* they are doms…in reality, they are just power hungry idiots.

Things like this anger me because they only serve to reinforce the stereotypes so many have of the Dom/sub relationship as out and out abuse and of Doms as deviants who don’t care for their subs. My Master and I both have been verbally attacked by people who don’t understand.

My Master treasures me, is always concerned for my well-being, and asks me to regularly to make sure that being his sub is still what I want to do. I do not envy him the task of figuring out just how far to push things at times when I don’t always know myself, but he always seems to know just when to stop or when to take it one step further. Our relationship is not 24/7, it is not what my Master and I want. We must each find the level that makes us happy and Master and I have.

The man in that news story is no Master, he is just an abuser looking for an excuse to terrorize someone else.
